Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 11 · Burdening and Cross-Charge

Burden schedules and rates

Lesson 114 of 198 · 13 min

Create a burden schedule linked to the structure, add rate versions with effective dates, set rates per organization where they differ, create a second schedule for a different burden treatment, assign schedules to project types from Module 7, show a project-level schedule override, then record a cost and show the burden calculated. Effective dating matters as much as it did for rates in Module 6. Burden rates change annually, and backdated costs must use the historical rate. Organization-specific rates handle the case where different parts of the business carry different overhead. See the calculated burden on a real transaction, with the arithmetic visible.
