Implementing Cloud Financials: From Empty Pod to Go-Live · Module 14 · Data Migration and Integration
Integration patterns and third parties
Lesson 139 of 153 · 1 min
Four patterns: scheduled batch file, real-time API call, event-driven, and manual spreadsheet — and when each fits. Six common finance integrations: bank statements in, payment files out, payroll journals in, a sales or billing system into Receivables, procurement into Payables, and treasury and FX rates. Plus the third-party services that touch finance — bank account validation, embedded banking services, corporate card feeds — at a concept level. Five questions to ask up front: frequency, volume, error handling, who monitors, and who fixes. And what happens when it fails at two in the morning on close day. Most integration failures are operational, not technical. Nobody owns the monitoring. Build the runbook and name an owner — which is a sentence rather than a project, and it is the difference between a three-hour outage and a three-week one.
