Reading Oracle documentation without drowning

Oracle's documentation is enormous, largely accurate, and organised for somebody who already knows where to look. Three habits fix that. Know which document answers which question. Functional setup questions live in the implementation guides; "what does this service accept" lives in the REST API reference for your product family; "which file loads this object" lives in the FBDI or HDL reference, which lists every interface table and every required column; and "what changed" lives in the release readiness material for the specific update. TELL A CURRENT PAGE FROM A STALE ONE BEFORE YOU TRUST IT. Every page names a release. A search engine will hand you a version from three years ago that looks identical and describes a screen that no longer exists — check the release on the page against the release your environment is on, every time.
