Where technical work sits in an implementation

Data loads, reports, integrations and extensions do not arrive at the same point in a project, and knowing where each lands is what makes you useful before go-live rather than during it. Extensions land in DESIGN, because a field the business needs changes what every later artefact has to carry. Data loads land in the middle — usually far too late, because conversion is scoped after the functional design is signed off and the source data turns out to be worse than anybody said. Reports land near the end, when users can finally describe what they want to see. Integrations land wherever the other system's timeline puts them, which is the one date on the plan you do not control.
