Finding and reading the right template

TEMPLATES ARE VERSIONED AGAINST RELEASES AND CHANGE WITHOUT ANNOUNCEMENT. A column is added, a column is widened, occasionally a column moves. Loading with a stale template produces a rejection that names a column — or, worse, a load where every value after the changed column is one position out and the data lands in the wrong fields. Get the current one from Oracle's file-based data import reference for YOUR release, not from a shared drive and not from the last project. The reference page names the release; that is the check. How to spot a stale one, in order of speed: compare the column count and the header row against the reference; check the template's own version cell, which most carry; and load one row into a test environment before preparing ten thousand.
