A migration rehearsed once in a REAL environment costs a day and saves a weekend. Nobody schedules it, and every project that skipped it can tell you what it cost. What to rehearse. The full sequence, in order, with the real files and the real volumes: extract, transform, load each object, reconcile. And time every step — the number you need from a rehearsal is how long the freeze takes, and it is not derivable from anything else. Rehearse the RECONCILIATION too, not only the loads. The load is the part people practise; the reconciliation is the part that takes longer than anybody expects, because it is where the questions surface.
