What you need, what it costs, and why doing these labs against a client system is THE ONE SHORTCUT THAT ENDS A CAREER RATHER THAN A LESSON. Every lab in this course ends by breaking something on purpose. You will kill processes, corrupt a datafile, fill a filesystem, apply a patch and roll it back, and restore from a backup having proved you needed to. None of that is safe on a system anybody depends on, and all of it is essential to learning. SO YOU NEED AN ENVIRONMENT YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DESTROY. A VM you own, a cloud instance you pay for by the hour, or a sandbox your employer has explicitly designated.
