Event types

Lesson 154 of 198 · 13 min

Create event types and enter basic information. Create a billing event type for a milestone, a revenue event type, and a write-off event type. Enter an event against a contract and project, generate an invoice including the event, and show a revenue event recognized independently. EVENTS ARE HOW YOU BILL OR RECOGNIZE SOMETHING THAT IS NOT DERIVED FROM COST. Milestones, fixed fees, retainers, write-offs, adjustments. A single event type can classify for billing, revenue or both. Set it deliberately. Write-off events are how you handle unrecoverable amounts. Every professional services business needs them — and they need a control. That is Module 2's segregation of duties, arriving with a number attached.
