Implementing Cloud Financials: From Empty Pod to Go-Live · Module 11 · Fixed Assets

Adding assets manually

Lesson 109 of 153 · 9 min

A quick addition using category defaults, then a detail addition with overrides so you can see what the defaults were doing for you. Set the assignment — employee, cost centre, location — then look at the asset in both the corporate and the tax book, and at the initial depreciation projection. The cost centre on the assignment drives the depreciation expense account. That is the segment label from the chart of accounts module, doing its job visibly, and it is the clearest single demonstration in the course of why labels are not decoration. And assignments can be split across cost centres, which is how a shared asset gets charged to the departments that actually use it.
