Implementing Manufacturing and Materials Management: From Empty Plant to Costed Work Order · Module 1 · The SCM Landscape

Offerings, functional areas and opt-in

Lesson 8 of 188 · 12 min

Open Setup and Maintenance and select the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering. Tour the functional areas — enterprise profile, organization structures, users and security, facilities, items, inventory management, receiving, shipping, manufacturing master data, cost accounting. Open the opt-in page and enable the Shipping and Manufacturing functional areas. Run the associated features report, create an implementation project, then search for a task directly by name. Manufacturing is not enabled by default. If the manufacturing tasks are not there, that is why. It is the first thing to check and it catches nearly everyone once, so let it catch you here. Learn task-name search, not click paths. Paths shift between releases; names are stable. That is the transferable skill in this lesson. The associated features report is the honest answer to "what is actually in this offering". And some opt-ins are irreversible. Read before ticking.
