Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 1 · The PPM Landscape

The Project Execution Management applications

Lesson 7 of 198 · 2 min

Three applications on the execution side, and each one has a different daily user. Project Management — planning, management and scheduling for anyone in the enterprise managing project-based work. Project managers develop tasks, resolve issues, report progress and monitor status. Task Management — all work and related interactions in one place, so team members are not tracking administrative work and project work separately. Resource Management — optimizing allocation and utilization of people, so the best-fit resource lands on each assignment. Works for internal and billable projects alike. Project managers, team members, and resource managers. Three different daily experiences — which matters when somebody asks you to demonstrate "the system", because there is not one screen that shows it. The relationship to the finance side. Where both offerings are implemented, execution-side work feeds the financial side — but the integration and its limits are a design topic, not an automatic given.
