Session timeout and environment description

Lesson 154 of 201 · 9 min

The current idle session timeout, changing it and the trade-off, revisiting and refining the custom environment description from Module 4, and both from a user's perspective. SESSION TIMEOUT IS A SECURITY AND USABILITY TRADE-OFF. Shorter is safer and more irritating; users doing long modelling work will complain. Set it WITH the security function, not alone, and document the decision. Maximum session duration and idle timeout are DIFFERENT controls. Know which you are changing.
