The activity report: usage and performance

Lesson 161 of 201 · 14 min

Walk interface usage and response data — what users did and how long it took — the operational metrics, recent jobs and their outcomes, CPU and memory statistics, and browser, Smart View and Excel usage information. Then identify a slow operation and trace it. RESPONSE DATA IS HOW YOU ANSWER "IT IS SLOW" WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN AN OPINION. Find the operation, find the pattern, then act. CLIENT USAGE DATA TELLS YOU WHAT VERSIONS YOUR USERS ARE ACTUALLY RUNNING — which is the input to Module 10's client update routine. Most administrators guess at this. Failed jobs in this section should RECONCILE with your Module 11 automation monitoring. If they do not, one of the two is not telling you everything.
