The application family

Ten modules, described the same way each time: what it is, what feeds it, what it feeds. Two of the ten are the ones people get wrong, and both are called out below. General Ledger — the book of record. Everything ends here. Payables — what you owe, from supplier invoice to payment. Receivables — what you are owed, from customer invoice to cash. Payments — the shared engine that actually moves the money. Cash Management — bank accounts, statements, reconciliation, cash position. Tax — a shared service called by other modules. Expenses — employee spend, which becomes a Payables invoice. Assets — capitalised spend, largely fed from Payables. Intercompany — transactions between entities in the same enterprise.
