Building a geography hierarchy

A walkthrough. Open geography management, review a country's delivered structure and add a missing level, then import the delivered geography data for that country and watch the process run. Then build a second country by hand, because not every country has delivered data and somebody has to type it. Configure validation at two levels, set to error at one and warning at the other, and then test it: enter a valid address, then a deliberately invalid one, and watch both behaviours. The lesson closes on the geography import spreadsheet, which is how bulk loading is actually done. Three things worth carrying out of this one. The import process can take a long time for a large country — start it and move on. Adding a level after addresses exist is disruptive, so decide the structure up front.
