Implementing Manufacturing and Materials Management: From Empty Plant to Costed Work Order · Module 5 · Units of Measure and Calendars
Building units and conversions
Lesson 48 of 188 · 14 min
Review the delivered UOM classes and create a class. Define units within it and set the base unit. Create standard conversions, then an interclass conversion for a specific item and an intraclass conversion for an item-specific pack size. Show a transaction converting between units and read the resulting quantity aloud. Then deliberately create a wrong conversion, show the resulting nonsense quantity, and fix it. Show the wrong conversion. You will remember the broken number — and it is the number you will recognise on a real project, months later, when somebody calls it a data error. The unit code appears on every document. Use conventional codes the plant already recognises.
