Connections do not travel

Credentials are NOT exported, which is CORRECT and is also the step everyone forgets. What the target environment must already have. The connection travels as a reference and arrives without its secret. That is deliberate and it is the right design — Module 12 Lesson 2 spent a whole lesson on the export that carried a credential to a laptop, and this is the platform refusing to be that export. SO THE TARGET ENVIRONMENT MUST ALREADY HOLD, OR BE GIVEN, THREE THINGS PER CONNECTION. The endpoint for THIS environment's instance of that system. The credential for a service account in THAT system. And, where the connection uses one, the certificate. AND THE ACCOUNT MUST BE THAT ENVIRONMENT'S ACCOUNT, WHICH IS THE PART PEOPLE SHORTCUT. Supplying the production credential into a test connection because it is the one to hand recreates exactly the failure Lesson 1 describes, with the added property…
