The mapper, practically

The mechanics quickly, so the rest of this module can be about correctness. DRAGGING covers the majority: source element to target element, one to one. Most of a real mapping is exactly that, and the interesting parts are the few that are not. THE EXPRESSION BUILDER is for everything else — concatenation, a condition, a function, a lookup. Build expressions in small pieces and test as you go; a long expression assembled in one go and then debugged is the slowest way to work in this tool. READING A MAPPING SOMEBODY ELSE WROTE is the skill this lesson is really about, because you will do it more often than you write one from scratch. Read it TARGET-FIRST, top to bottom, the same order it was designed in. For each element ask: is it mapped, and from where? The unmapped ones are what you are looking for — they are invisible…
