Forms and two-way binding

Editing a record, and WHERE THE EDITED VALUE ACTUALLY IS BEFORE IT IS SAVED. A form binds two ways: the field displays the variable, and typing writes back into it. That second direction is what makes forms easy, and it is also what makes the question in this title worth asking. THE ANSWER IS THAT THE EDITED VALUE IS IN A VARIABLE IN THE BROWSER AND NOWHERE ELSE. Not in Fusion, not in a business object, not anywhere that survives the user closing the tab. Which is obvious when stated and is exactly what people forget the moment a page looks like it is working. SO THE FIRST DECISION IS WHICH VARIABLE THE FORM EDITS, AND THE WRONG ANSWER IS "THE ONE THE SERVICE RETURNED".
