Roles as functions rather than headcount, because in a small organization one person holds several. Platform administration — this course's subject. Functional ownership per business process — somebody who owns the Planning application, somebody who owns the close. Data and integration. Change and enablement. Governance and standards. And executive sponsorship. THE MINIMUM VIABLE CoE: ONE PLATFORM ADMINISTRATOR, ONE FUNCTIONAL OWNER PER MAJOR BUSINESS PROCESS, AND A SPONSOR WHO WILL MAKE DECISIONS. Three or four people, part-time. That is a much smaller ask than the phrase "Center of Excellence" suggests, and saying so is half of getting one. And the single-point-of-failure problem, named directly.
