There is no standalone mode. This product cannot function without a primary ledger, a legal entity, and at least one business unit. Inventory value posts to a ledger; costing produces journals. There is no version of this that runs without somewhere to post to. What each one provides. The ledger — the chart of accounts, the calendar and the currency that costing will post into. The legal entity — the owner of the inventory, for statutory purposes. The business unit — the operating grouping the inventory organization belongs to. Two starting situations, and you are in one of them today. Financials is already implemented: your prerequisite is done, so verify it and move on.
