Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 7 · Project Types
Burdening options
Lesson 70 of 198 · 12 min
Enable burdening on the type and select the burden schedule — forward-referencing Module 11, where burden structures are built. Set whether burden is stored as a separate expenditure item or included in the cost, show the accounting implication of each choice, and show a type without burdening for contrast. WHETHER BURDEN IS A SEPARATE ITEM OR INCLUDED IN THE COST IS A REAL DECISION WITH REPORTING CONSEQUENCES. Separate items are visible and analysable; included burden is simpler and less transparent. ASK THE CONTROLLER. Burdening is enabled per type. Internal projects may burden differently from contract projects, or not at all — which is the lab's three-treatment requirement. Module 11 builds the schedules. This lesson sets whether the type uses them.
