Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 4 · Calendars, Schedules and Workday Patterns
Project and resource calendars
Lesson 45 of 198 · 11 min
Assign a schedule as the project calendar default at project unit level, then a different schedule to a specific project. Assign resource calendars to project enterprise resources — forward-referencing Module 17. Show a task duration calculated against the project calendar, resource availability calculated against the resource calendar, and then the two producing different answers for the same week — deliberately. THAT LAST STEP IS THE LESSON. The same week producing a five-day project duration and a four-day resource availability is the concept made visible, and it is the only way Lesson 1 becomes concrete. Project unit level is the sensible default. Per-project override for genuine exceptions only.
