Open the project performance dashboard. Show the portfolio view and drill to a project. Drill from a KPI to the underlying data. Show the project manager's view versus the executive's, and configure what appears for each. THE DRILL PATH IS WHAT MAKES THE DASHBOARD CREDIBLE. An executive who cannot get from a red indicator to the transactions behind it stops trusting it — and once they stop, they do not start again. Different audiences need different views. Configure both. Show this to the actual executive before go-live. They will ask for two changes and both will be reasonable.
