Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 16 · Project Performance Reporting
Summarization
Lesson 167 of 198 · 11 min
Run the summarization processes. Show data appearing in performance reporting. Show the effect of NOT running them — stale figures. Schedule the processes, and show the timing relationship with the period close. THIS IS THE "WHY IS THE DASHBOARD SHOWING LAST MONTH" ANSWER. Summarization must run. Schedule it. Run it AFTER the close, not before — or the executive sees a partial month and asks why the numbers changed. That question, once asked, costs more trust than the delay would have. Summarization on a large portfolio takes time. Measure it and plan the close timetable around it.
