Guided learning

Lesson 171 of 201 · 14 min

What guided learning provides — in-product guidance, walkthroughs and help content overlaid on the application. The integration between the platform and the guidance service, a guide running for a user, the authoring side at a concept level, and measuring guide usage. IN-PRODUCT GUIDANCE REACHES USERS AT THE MOMENT OF CONFUSION — which is when training material is least likely to be consulted and most likely to be needed. THE HIGHEST-VALUE GUIDES ARE FOR INFREQUENT TASKS. Nobody needs a guide for what they do daily; everybody needs one for the thing they do once a quarter. Authoring guides is a content skill and somebody must own it. Usually not you — usually the functional team or the Center of Excellence. Establish that.
