Archival, retention and retrieval

The platform's retention behaviour for daily backups, how to retrieve an archived backup and the process involved, the timeframe that process takes, the contrast with your own retained copies (which are immediate), and the retention decision built on screen: how far back does the business need to go? RETRIEVING AN ARCHIVED BACKUP TAKES TIME. In an incident, that time is on your recovery clock. Your own retained copies are not subject to that delay — which is the argument for keeping them. The retention decision is a BUSINESS decision, driven by recovery point objectives and by any regulatory retention requirement. Get it stated. Storage is cheap. Insufficient retention is not.
