Restoring an environment

START THE STOPWATCH AND LEAVE IT RUNNING. Obtain the snapshot, upload it to the target environment, import and monitor, review results and warnings. Then work the post-restore checklist: users present? roles assigned? integrations pointing correctly? automation credentials valid? client connections working? scheduled jobs intact? Verify the application functions, then stop the stopwatch and state the elapsed time. THE STOPWATCH IS THE PEDAGOGY. The number at the end is the thing you take away and the thing your organization needs. THE POST-RESTORE CHECKLIST IS WHERE MOST RESTORES ARE DECLARED COMPLETE TOO EARLY. The application imports and everyone relaxes; then finance discovers nobody has access. Work the checklist visibly. Do this in a disposable environment. Never rehearse a restore into something anyone depends on.
