Three metrics. The hosted employee metric — entitlement sized against the organization's employee count. The hosted named user metric — sized against the number of named users, typically with a lower associated record ceiling. Record counts in Enterprise Data Management — where records represent unique nodes across business processes, grouped into business domains as logical groupings of real-world entities. Here is why the distinction bites. The same subscription tier can carry very different ceilings depending on which metric it was sold under. A client on a named user metric with a modest record ceiling — and an ambition to govern the whole chart of accounts — has a problem. Better found in week one than month six.
