Implementing Cloud Financials: From Empty Pod to Go-Live · Module 4 · Chart of Accounts and Ledger Design
Building the primary ledger
Lesson 43 of 153 · 12 min
A short walkthrough with four consequential clicks in it. Create the ledger with a name and description, select the chart of accounts instance you built and deployed, select the accounting calendar you generated, select the ledger currency, and select the accounting method. Save — and notice that the ledger now appears and is not yet usable. Those four selections are effectively permanent. Saying it again is the point: this is the third time in the module and it is the sentence that stops a re-implementation. Include the entity and the currency in the ledger name. You will have several, and a list of ledgers named after the project rather than after what they hold is unreadable within a year. And the accounting method choice affects every subledger downstream — Payables, Receivables, Assets, all of it. It is not a general ledger setting that happens to live here.
