Accounting calendars

The concept half first. Period frequency options — monthly, weekly, four-four-five and its variants. Adjusting periods and what they are for. And why the period naming format matters to every report anybody will ever build against this ledger. Ask what the fiscal year end is before you assume January to December, and ask whether they need a thirteenth period for audit adjustments. The answer is usually yes, and they usually do not volunteer it. Then the walkthrough: create the calendar, set the start date and period frequency, generate the periods, add an adjusting period, review the generated names, save, and extend the calendar with future years. Four warnings, all of them permanent. Somebody must extend the calendar annually or the close fails — another line for the client's checklist.
