Three kinds of data access, and a finance team needs all three. Data access sets for General Ledger — full ledger, balancing segment value, or management segment value. The lesson creates one of each, assigns them, and demonstrates the difference by signing in rather than by describing it. Balancing-segment-level sets are how you let a regional controller see their own entity and nothing else. Business unit data access for Payables and Receivables — assign a user to specific business units and watch the invoice list change in front of you. Asset book access, which is routinely forgotten until Module 11 fails and nobody connects the two. This is the step most commonly skipped, and every "I cannot see anything" ticket in the first month traces back to it.
