Implementing Global HR: From Enterprise Model to Live Workforce · Module 1 · The HCM Landscape

What Global HR actually is

Lesson 6 of 175 · 6 min

The previous lesson was the family. This one is the boundary — what is actually inside a Global HR implementation, and what people will assume is inside it and is not. It may be the most commercially useful ten minutes in the early part of this course, because this vocabulary is what lets you have an accurate conversation in week one rather than a painful one in month three. In scope, six things. Enterprise and workforce structures — the legal entities, business units, departments, jobs, positions, grades and locations. Person records — names, identifiers, contact details, personal information. Employment — work relationships, assignments, and the actions and reasons that move people through them. Document records, with their own security. Seniority and work schedules. And workforce data loading, which is a bigger part of a real project than any list suggests. Adjacent but separate: Payroll, Absence, Benefits, Talent, Recruiting, Compensation, Learning.
