If somebody says "we are implementing HCM", they have not yet told you what they are doing. That sentence covers about ten different implementations, and this lesson is the map that lets you ask the right next question. Each application gets the same four-part treatment: the name, its job in one sentence, what it depends on, and what depends on it. That last pair is the useful bit — nearly every scoping mistake comes from somebody not knowing which way a dependency runs. Global Human Resources is the core: it holds the workforce structures, the person records and the employment information. It depends on nothing else in the family. Everything else depends on it.
