Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 19 · Full PPM Capstone

Building your project plan

Lesson 195 of 198 · 14 min

Open the project plan template and sequence nineteen modules' worth of work against this brief. Mark the hard dependencies: enterprise structure → foundation taxonomy → rates → project types → RBS → plan types → accounting setup → costing → contracts → billing → templates. Identify what runs in parallel. Mark decision points needing client input — here, documented assumptions. Mark the three permanent decisions as GATES. Mark the TEMPLATE DESIGN as a day-one activity, even though it is built last. Plan the quarter-boundary cutover, with in-flight conversion. The dependency chain here is long, and the template design sits at BOTH ENDS of it. Plan for that — that is not a note, it is a scheduling decision. The gates are the professional move. In-flight conversion against a fixed go-live date is a real planning constraint. Work backwards from it.
