Account inquiry and account groups

Lesson 116 of 153 · 12 min

Run an account inquiry against your ledger, then drill from the balance, to the journal, to the subledger transaction — all the way to a Payables invoice. That is the data flow map from the landscape module, traversed backwards, and seeing it work is what makes the map memorable. Then create an account group for month-end monitoring, configure the account monitor with thresholds, and look at the visual balance exploration. The drill-down is the single most useful daily feature for an accountant, and the one they most often do not know exists. Teach it early in client training; it changes how somebody works far more than a new report does. And account groups are how a controller watches the accounts that matter without running a report at all.
