Implementing Cloud Financials: From Empty Pod to Go-Live · Module 12 · Financial Reporting

Smart View for ad-hoc analysis

Lesson 120 of 153 · 14 min

Connect Smart View to the cube and perform an ad-hoc retrieval. Pivot, zoom in, drill to detail. Change the point of view from the ribbon. Save it as a refreshable workbook. Then show what happens when somebody emails that workbook to a colleague who has no access. This is the tool the FP&A team will actually live in, so train them on it specifically rather than folding it into a general reporting session. And the property to say out loud: a saved workbook refreshes against live data. That is the feature and it is the risk — an old file with a new number in it surprises people, usually in a meeting.
