Implementing Cloud Financials: From Empty Pod to Go-Live · Module 12 · Financial Reporting
Folders, permissions and connections
Lesson 117 of 153 · 11 min
Open the reporting workspace and tour the catalog structure. Create a folder structure that matches how the client is organised, not how the tool defaults. Set folder permissions by role. Define the database connection to the balances cube. Configure the Smart View client — installation, connection URL, first connect. Then verify by retrieving one balance. Folder structure and permissions get designed once and lived with forever, so spend ten minutes on it. Ten minutes now against a catalog nobody can navigate in year two is an easy trade. The Smart View connection URL is the thing everyone gets wrong. Show exactly where to find it, and write it into the lab guide rather than leaving it to be remembered.
