Descriptive flexfields

Lesson 146 of 175 · 14 min

Show the descriptive flexfields available across workforce structures, person, assignment and document records. Configure a global segment, then a context and context-sensitive segments, set the value set, prompt, display type and validation, deploy, show the field appearing on the page, and show the same flexfield in a different context showing different fields. Deploy or nothing appears. The same lesson as every flexfield in either course, and it is still the first thing to check when a field is missing. Context-sensitive segments are how one flexfield serves several purposes. Use them rather than consuming global segments — globals are finite and contexts are not. And register every segment you create, with its purpose and its owner — at the moment you create it, not as a closing remark.
