Implementing Global HR: From Enterprise Model to Live Workforce · Module 9 · Person

Photos, duplicates and record synchronization

Lesson 94 of 175 · 12 min

Load person photos in bulk and look at the caching behaviour. Configure duplicate check settings for person import, then attempt an import that would create a duplicate and watch the detection. Look at the guidelines for synchronising person records where multiple sources exist, and at how person and assignment changes are communicated to consumer applications. Duplicate persons are the most damaging data quality failure in HCM. One human with two person records means split history, broken service dates, and two sets of access — and the access one is the part people do not think of. Prevention is duplicate checking configured before the first load, not after. Merging afterwards is difficult and lossy. Photos are a personal data item like any other: decide who can see them and where they appear. And if multiple systems create person records — recruiting, HR, a legacy feed — define one system of record.
