Person number generation

Lesson 88 of 175 · 10 min

The generation methods — manual, automatic, automatic before or after submission — then the enterprise-level setting, legislation-level sequences where supported, a person created so you can watch the numbering, and worker number generation as a separate setting. This is effectively permanent. Changing the generation method after records exist creates a mixed-format population that reporting and integrations will trip over forever. It belongs in the same family as the legal structure warnings. Manual numbering is chosen when migrating from a legacy system with meaningful numbers. That is legitimate, and it puts uniqueness on you. And automatic-before-submission gives the number earlier, which matters if downstream systems need it during the hire flow. Ask the integration team — that is a question, not a preference.
