Implementing Global HR: From Enterprise Model to Live Workforce · Module 9 · Person

Demographic information and lookups

Lesson 92 of 175 · 12 min

Review the demographic fields available on a person record, configure the person lookups behind marital status, highest education level and the rest, add and disable lookup codes, and see how a lookup change affects existing records and where legislation-specific lookup behaviour applies. Collect only what the client has a defined reason and a lawful basis to collect. Some demographic fields are legally required in some jurisdictions and prohibited in others — and the client's own legal and data protection advisers decide that, not you. Same rule as the statutory structures earlier in the course. Where a field is collected for statutory reporting, document which report consumes it. Fields collected "because they were on the old form" should be challenged — once, politely, and in writing. And disable lookup codes rather than deleting them. Existing records referencing a deleted code display badly, which is one of the failures in this module.
