Pick release and picking rules

Configure picking rules — how the system chooses which stock to pick — then set the rule to pick by lot expiry for a lot-controlled item, and explain first-expired-first-out. Run pick release for a demand line, show the resulting pick slip and move order, show a partial pick where insufficient stock exists, and show the reservation created. Picking rules determine which physical stock leaves — FIFO, first-expired-first-out by expiry, or by locator sequence. For anything with shelf life, FEFO is usually mandatory and often not configured, which is one of the failure cases and is discovered by a customer. Pick release creates reservations. This is where the availability-versus-on-hand distinction from the inventory module becomes visible.
