The four schedule types

Person rate schedule — a rate per named individual. Most precise, most maintenance. Job rate schedule — a rate per job. Everyone with that job gets that rate. Requires HCM jobs. Resource class rate schedule — a rate per resource class, optionally per organization. The broadest fallback. Nonlabor rate schedule — a rate per nonlabor resource. PERSON SCHEDULES MEAN MAINTAINING A RATE FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL, FOREVER, THROUGH EVERY JOINER AND LEAVER. Person schedules are accurate and cost that. Job schedules are far lighter and less precise. The common pattern: job or resource class rates as the base, with person rates only for genuine exceptions — a small number of individuals whose rate genuinely differs. ASK HOW THE BUSINESS QUOTES WORK. If they quote by grade, use job rates. If they quote named individuals, you may genuinely need person rates.
