Creating and releasing work orders

Open Work Execution and check the organization context. Manage work orders, create a standard work order — item, quantity, start date — and show the work definition pulling in operations, materials and resources. Review the scheduled dates and show the calendar and capacity driving them. Save, select the work order and release it, then show what release changes: reservations, dispatch list visibility, transactability. Create a non-standard work order for comparison. Release is the gate. An unreleased work order is a plan; a released one is a commitment that reserves material and appears on the shop floor. The scheduled dates are the payoff of the calendar and capacity modules. If they look wrong, that is where to go — not into the scheduler. Do not release everything at once. Releasing early reserves material that could be used elsewhere — and that reservation is invisible to the person who then cannot find…
