Create work centers within the work areas, assign them to the correct work area, set their attributes, and set the associated inventory subinventory and locator for supply and completion — and explain why this matters. Create a second work center of a different character, then review the resulting shop floor model. The supply subinventory on a work center is what makes backflush work. When material is backflushed at an operation, it comes from here. Set it wrong and material is consumed from the wrong place — which shows up as an inventory discrepancy nobody can explain. Nobody can explain it because the transaction is correct; it is the source that is wrong. Work centers appear on the dispatch list. That is the operator's whole view of their day.
