Resources are labour or equipment. The type determines behaviour and, importantly, how cost is charged. Labour resources are people, or classes of people, usually charged per hour. Equipment resources are machines, usually charged per hour of run time. The design question: a resource per individual, or per skill class? Almost always per class. "Welder", not "Anders". Individuals leave; skill classes do not. Charge type is how the resource consumes time relative to the operation — for the whole operation, per unit, and so on — and each has an effect on scheduling and cost. Then build: labour resources, equipment resources, units of measure, charge types and default rate behaviour, and resources ready for assignment. Resource naming appears on the dispatch list and every cost report. Name for the plant, not for the org chart. Resource definitions drive resource rates in the cost planning module.
