Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 5 · Expenditure Types, Nonlabor Resources and Project Roles

Project roles

Lesson 53 of 198 · 12 min

Create project roles reflecting the delivery structure and set the role attributes. Show the role used for project team membership — Module 2's project role concept made concrete. Show the role available for rate schedules (Module 6) and used in resource management staffing (Module 17). PROJECT ROLES HAVE THREE CONSUMERS: team membership and permissions, rate derivation, and staffing requests. That is why the list is a design object rather than a convenience. Those three demonstrations are that sentence made visible. Keep it short. Ten to fifteen roles covers most professional services businesses. Fifty means nobody picks consistently. Align the role list with how the business actually describes its people, or timesheet users will guess.
