Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 5 · Expenditure Types, Nonlabor Resources and Project Roles
Creating expenditure types
Lesson 51 of 198 · 15 min
Create an expenditure type: name, expenditure category, revenue category, unit of measure. Select expenditure type classes and set effective dates per class. Set tax classification codes where relevant. Create a labour type, a travel type, a subcontract type and a nonlabor type. Show the type appearing where it is consumed — and show a type FAILING to appear because the class was not allowed. UNIT OF MEASURE MATTERS. Hours for labour, currency for expenses. It drives how quantities are interpreted everywhere downstream — get it wrong and the number is right and the meaning is not. Effective dates per class let you introduce a source later without recreating the type. Tax classification codes matter if the client bills with tax. Confirm with Finance.
