Implementing Project Portfolio Management: From Organization Structure to Recognized Revenue · Module 9 · Project Plan Types and Financial Plan Types
Budgetary control settings
Lesson 98 of 198 · 11 min
Select budgetary control settings on the plan type. Set the control level — absolute, advisory, or none — the tolerance and the control period. Show a transaction exceeding the budget under each control level, and show the funds check result. ABSOLUTE CONTROL STOPS TRANSACTIONS. That is powerful and IT STOPS WORK. Advisory warns and lets things through. Most clients start advisory and tighten later, and that is usually right. Budgetary control is optional. Many project implementations do not use it. Ask before configuring. The control period determines the granularity of the check — annual, quarterly, project-to-date. It is a policy question for Finance.
